Jim's mom was awakened at 2:00am Saturday morning by an alarm. She thought it was his Dad's feeding tube alarm, but when she went to check on him, the room was filled with smoke. There was a fire! She was able to call 911, and Jim's nephew helped her get Dad out of the house safely. They are all safe. The house is a loss. It was the smoke alarm that saved their lives. Have you checked the batteries in your smoke alarm lately?

Oh my goodness Kim!!! Horror of horrors! Thank God that they escaped!! I'm changing those fool batteries right away. I don't have a good system for switching them out but I want to get one started. :~O
Thank God they're ok. Wow!
Sad story...good reminder. GLad to hear they're ok.
Keeping them in our prayers, and have good batteries in the alarms!
What a scary event! I am also glad that everyone is ok. Do they know what started it?
Those photos (I didn't see them the first time I looked at this post) evoke so much emotion! Sadness and devastation. I hope your MIL and FIL are doing well during this tough time. And that Jim is feeling helpful and connected to them as much as he can be.
