Now THAT'S a Meal Ministry!

This is Christa.
She is on "Limited Activity" for the next 3 weeks as D grows stronger lungs.
My Friday Morning Bible Study ladies have been praying for her.
One young mom thought the group should love on Christa's family a bit.
Everyone pitched in to buy Christa's family a meal.
$62.00 was collected.
Friday I ordered them Chinese, with the help of super-husband Jason!
Next weekend, there will be another meal-surprise for them.
Below see Christa's Facebook status today.
The family of God is awesome.
We've got a great Father.
I'm sure He loves when His kids take care of each other.
"God is so good. Last a night a group of ladies that I've never met in Montana took up a collection and gave the money to my mom to order me dinner. Jase picked it up on the way home and I was so surprised and relieved that dinner was taken care of. The ladies have been praying for my pregnancy and wanted to something more. I was so touched and humbled. When I go to Montana in December, I WILL find these ladies and I WILL hug them."

Boys

boy

noun,  \ˈbi\
Noise with dirt on it.

Oh Dear.

I heard the word "snow" in the weather forecast this morning.  Oh dear!  This has been such a lovely fall, I really am not ready for it to end.  Mind you, I don't particularly dislike cold weather, but wet, slippery weather, I disdain.  Unless I can just stay in my house.  Which I can't.

Dear Wonderful Fall,
Please won't you stay another six weeks?  Please?
I love you,
Kim

Open House Dessert

Today we hosted an Open House Dessert to thank the 14 guys that helped us with our addition.  We invited the men and their families to come see the completed work.  It was a beautiful day to have them into our home!  One of the men that helped with the work was not able to be here because he and his family have moved to Costa Rica.  So at 3:00pm we had a Skype visit with them.
It was great to see the Graham's and to hear how they are adjusting.

I wanted to serve a fall dessert, so with a twist of clever,
I presented a Caramel Apple Bar.
I sliced apples, drizzled them with caramel, and let the guests top them with almonds, walnuts, mini chocolate-chips, toffee bits, toasted coconut, crushed oreos, raisins, chocolate sauce or sprinkles.  The adults shied away at first, but after a few of the kids built their caramel apple "sundaes" the adults got in line!

It was a great time, just a small token of appreciation for all the work so many did on our behalf.

Creativity

In my last blog entry I posted a photo of a coat-hook/picture frame project that I wanted to do in Em's room.  After buying dozens of frames to get four I wanted, I ventured to create (honestly, it would be "duplicate") the project in the photo.  Most of the fam was gone this morning, so I ventured to do this on my own, with the exception of a few screw turns by Andrew.  After meticulously measuring, and remeasuring, I drilled the holes/anchors/screws/coat-hooks into the wall.  I very excitedly hung the frames I had prepared, anticipating a great "Ahhhhh" moment.  But what I got was a "What the heck?!" moment.  The frames did not lay beautifully against the wall, but rather hung and swayed like a swing in the breeze.  Argh!  Since the coat-hooks were well attached to the wall (a.k.a. They're not ever coming down!) I decided to leave it, and make the best of it.  Which is still in process, by the way.  I will take a photo when I am finished being creative.

That Four-Letter Word: BUSY

I heard recently on the radio about a survey that was given to people that had lived long lives.  One thing all these older folks had in common was that they lived with a purpose, they all had something they loved doing and kept busy doing it.  So much for the "slow down and relax" theory that has been running around in my head recently.  With weeks like this one, I guess I'm on the path to a good old age.  I can't believe all I have left to do in the next few days.

1. Bake Fall Harvest Blueberry Zucchini Bread for Bible study in the morning.
2. Color my hair.  (There I said it, in case you were really wondering!)
3. Gather, tag and deliver my items for The Exchange consignment sale.
4. Friday Morning Bible Study
5. Clean up paint supplies in Em's room (a.k.a. The Guest Room)
6. Make this wall hanging for Em's room.

7. Find seasoned wood for a headboard.
8. Install tie-backs for David's curtains.
9. Spot-paint hallway.
10, Assemble candy-bar thank yous for the Welcome Center.
11. Plan and execute a Dessert Open House for Sunday.
12. Take Grace to text-anxiety assessment.
13. Intentionally connect with A,E,G, & D each day.
14. Clean house "magazine perfect" (see #11 above!)
15. Prepare meals, do laundry, yada, yada.

Somehow making a list helps. Thanks for listening.
