Ginko BiWhat?

This morning we were eating breakfast in the kitchen, Grace, David and I.  We were chit chatting when all of a sudden the dishwasher mysteriously started on it's own.  I jumped to turn it off, then said "What was I saying?"  Grace and David both smiled sheepishly and denied knowing what I had said.

Me:  "I think it was something important".
G&D in unison:  "NO, it wasn't important!"
Me:  "Oh, so you remember what I said."
G&D:  (Grin)
Me:  "Please tell me."
D:  "No, Mom, it wasn't important."
Me:  (With genuine sadness) "Ok, I just wish I knew what it was."
G:  "You asked "Who opened the cookies?"
Me:  :)

25 Pounds of White Flour

Because I was out of flour.
Because I have two cakes to bake this week.
Because I was at Costco and didn't want to make another stop.
Because my teens aren't in love with whole wheat baked goods.
Because I am baking for a good-bye at work.
Because I am also baking for a Basketball Banquet.
Because it was so very cheap.
I bought 25 pounds of white flour today.
This goes against everything I believe.
Please do not tell the Whole Wheat Flour Fairy.

Not Even Kidding

Just moments after posting all about my terrible-horrible-no good-very bad-yard sale day I found this on Craigslist...

Unfortunately the garage sale that was supposed to be held this Saturday March 24 has been cancelled. This sale was at 233 Fireside Dr. Bozeman, MT 59718 from 9am --8pm. I am very sorry to all the garage salers out there for the inconvenience!

Thanks for your interest though!

Best Regards,

Brad

This still does not explain where the garage sale was supposed to be...but at least he apologized!

Just Wasn't Meant to Be

I woke up this morning at 8:00am with Garage Sale Money burning a whole in my pocket.  I talked Jim into coming with me, so after we stopped at the Town Pump for some Don-Arnold-Coffee, we headed to the address on my paper.  The paper with the Garage Sale info that I copied off of Craigslist yesterday.  The paper with the Garage Sale address that was ALL THE WAY out in Wiley Creek.

Jim was driving and that makes me nervous because he expects clear directions.  Which I had, but we were going to unfamiliar territory.  I gave directions flawlessly, anticipating each approaching turn.  When we reached the correct street, Jim slowed to barely a crawl but 233 was nowhere to be found.  The street ended.  We turned around and drove back up the street, still barely crawling, but definitely still not finding 233.  One more turn-around and drive down the street to figure out that 233 was apparently the address of the neighborhood park.  At this point I called both phone numbers on the paper.  "Brad" did not answer either of them.

Jim wondered if I had been punk'd.

To ease my disappointment we proceeded to the next address on my sheet.  Garage Sale #2 was also nowhere to be found.

Then Jim remembered what I had told him last night.  The new Goodwill Store would be opening today.  He thought it would satisfy my need for nice-things-cheap if we went to check out the new store.  Brilliant!  We drove across town only to discover I had been wrong; today was not the day the new Goodwill Store would be opening.

I wasn't sure how much more of this I could take, so we stopped at the Salvation Army.  I bought a shirt for Dave.  Score!

Said money that was burning a whole in my pocket?  It bought us lunch at the Coffee Pot and 3 boxes of Girl Scout cookies.  Thank you, Thin Mints, for making this day meaningful!

Going Green?

Even though I married an Irishman, our St. Patrick's day celebrations have never been the traditional kind.

I have never made corn beef and cabbage.
Yesterday I thought I might try it.
But the general consensus was that it isn't that good.
So, no corn beef and cabbage.

But I did serve this with dinner....
...in wine glasses.

 And this as a side...

...with very Irish-like potatoes for the main course.

I especially enjoyed seeing this Facebook post....

A special Happy St. Patrick's to those who have traveled together to that wonderful Isle! What an incredible memory! Laura Meixner, Kim Dunaway Johnson, Kim Arnold Keena, Kristen Clyde Smith, Heather Stevenson, Scott Molly Johnson, William Mindi Stevenson, Colin Truesdale, Jorge Forero, Aaron Tucker and so many more!
Incredible memories indeed, of  tasting the real Ireland.

If Only

This is where I live....
This is where I want to be today...

This is why...

Christa: Respiratory Virus & Cough
Bailey: Strep & Respiratory Virus w/ Cough
Caden: Strep & Respiratory Virus w/ Fever and Vomiting
Devan: Respiratory Virus w/ Cough

If only I could fly...
 Maybe I could turn this...

Into this...
Ahhh, the powers of a Super Grammy!

"Reply"

Grace has gone to Spokane for the week.  She is with a team that is doing grunt work at a camp to prepare it for summer campers.  Tuesday morning she sent me a text telling me what they had done on Monday.  I replied "That sounds awesome.  How is the weather?"

No immediate reply.
No reply at all on Tuesday.
No reply at all on Wednesday.

Last night, or should I say this morning?, she replied at 12:21am "Cold and rainy :( ".

Okay, there are a couple of issues here....
1.  I know there is sketchy cell-service at this camp.
2.  Maybe she had just received/read my text.
3.  But what was she still doing up at 12:21am?
4.  And what possessed her to think that I would still be up at 12:21am?

Daylight Savings Time

Ok, it's Wednesday.
I've given it a few days.
But I would like my hour of sleep back, please!

Oh, The Places You'll Go!

Check out Danae's Blog
I love her recounting of all the places we've been.
Our travels speak of God's faithfulness.
It has been a delight!

Love Note

Somewhere in Costa Rica there is a beach with my name on it.
And everyone that walks by will know that we are still crazy in love.

Merry Christmas to Me - Happy Birthday to Andrew

My day began with biking at the Ridge.
Andrew's day began with a birthday Mango-something smoothie from the Ridge.
I went to work.
Andrew went to work.
I made my first ever chicken-fried chicken for the birthday dinner.
Andrew loved the chicken-fried chicken.
He also loved his new Boston CD from Jim and his new red hoodie from me.
After dinner I went to the Spa, for a Christmas massage.
Andrew watched Wallace and Grommet with Grace.
I came home from the Spa in a jello-like state.

Glad I could share this special day with my first-born son.  He's a real treasure.
